Blessings

Going to Temple is a daily ritual for many in India. You can see the gopuram of the temple round the corner in most neighborhoods and if you don't have the time to go inside and offer a prayer, its not a problem. Often you see cars and bikes stop in front of the temple gates just for second or two and after quick bowing of the head, they scoot off to their daily chores. I did that fairly regularly during my college days :).

For the past year I have had the ritual of visiting a special website freerice.com  and I start my day by giving rice. Actually  I test my vocabulary or art knowledge and for every correct answer I click on, they donate 20 grains of rice to the UN World Food Program. It feels pretty close to visiting a temple - I feel blessed to be able to share in a small way every day.

Temple is done in watercolors and color pencils on masa paper.  15x 11"

Hi,with busy schedules, the rituals in india are changing everyday.People used to stop for a minute and offer prayers sitting in acar or bike.GONE ARE THOSE DAYS,now while driving past the temple, they touch their forehead and then chest with one hand, indicating one handed namaskar!
More busy people just lower their heads as if nodding.I have actually seen people gone a step ahead and just closing their eyes for a second!!What you are doing is more fruitful and meaningful way of offering prayers.
About paintings,I prefer single media paintings
either pur water or pen and ink or acrylic. Some how multimedia is not a purists way of thinking.

While the number of people who go to the temple as a daily ritual these days may be declining, if there is a temple on the way they do stop by for at least a second. From the balcony of my brother's house in India, its always amusing to see across the road to the temple entrance and how each person manages his/her 'namaskara'.

Regarding mixed media or not, for me, it all depends on what a painting or my mood calls for.
