As always, I am surprised how even if I have paid no attention to have a theme for each page when I sketched them in India earlier in the summer, as I start blogging about a page, I see the connection very clearly!!!

It never amazes me to see the many innovative ways things are stacked - like the bright blue rain water harvest barrels being transported here in a little tempo or the white eggs in colorful crates at the local provisions store. I love the designs and shapes I see in the ingenious solutions people come up with - sometimes even defying common sense and gravity ;)

Very true Meera , have you seen the tender coconuts stacked in the tempos, tied with ropes in a systematic manner, the gas cylinders make a lovely pattern, so also the chairs in wedding halls.. I think you made a sketch of them.

Sadami, thank you! Yes, sketching daily gave me new perspective on life in India and I noticed things that I had taken for granted before!

Ooh, I love how colorful these are! And I imagine it really was that colorful to see! You capture the moments and the special glimpses that people see, and appreciate, but they aren't really aware that they've seen something that brightened their day. Until you draw it the way YOU see it, and bring the beauty of the scene to the surface. I enjoy your work so much, Meera.

thanks Kathy:)Its been said that India is so colorful that you can shoot photos in b & w and it will print in full color ! Definitely, doing these sketches gave me a new look into things that until then was just there.

Beautiful colorful paintings that show great fantasy in solving day to day problems, really enjoyed seeing glimpses of Indian life.

Your two sketches look like one! Not only because of the colors but because of the shapes. I love it!

Thank you Jane :) You are so right - not only they solve the problems they add creativity and beauty to life !

Kathy, it always surprises me that some how there is always a link in the sketches --even if I have not given any though to what goes on each page. Mostly I only concerned with doing a sketch a day -- I have to be determined to snatch a half hour or so to complete the sketch for the day!
