Fleeting Patterns digital photography
I wonder if the little duckling was aware of distorted reflections, colors, and patterns around it as it swam about that particular morning few months ago in San Antonio, Texas! Do ducks see color? depth? patterns? They must - because drakes - Mallards, Mandarin and Wood ducks are colorful and patterned. And I see duck hunters wearing camouflage and hide in covered boats. Anyway, I am really grateful I was in the right place at the right time to capture a fleeting moment in time.

The pattern from this litte one's wake resembles large wings. I wonder if something from the air would think, "wow, that's a big one down there." Could be a lifesaver for the little one. :)
Meera I love this. The image of that little guy almost lost in the sea of reflections and ripples is very touching. Beautiful. :)))
I love this little duckling! There is something so friendly and cute about ducks. I think it's their waddle.
wow..great work. amazing way you've captured those reflections!
Thank you Carol! I hope so --it was really by itself and I feared for its life....
Crystal, Thank you :) You are so right --it was a very touching sight!
Thanks Lisa -- this one had a double cuteness factor of being tiny and fuzzy to boot :)
Raj, Thank you :) -- As I said, I think I was lucky to have been there with a camera as the little duck went by!
Brilliant click meera
happy new year Meera..thats one cool picture...looks like I missed a lot when I was lounging around home doing nothing for the holidays. the red nails , the lovely paiting of the blooms and the munich picture, a picture perfect palette ...heres to a new year full of many more such beauties
Beautiful photo. I thought it was a painting at first.
Thank you Kala! I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment:)
B, Good to hear from you! So nice that you had time on your hands --nothing like down time to recharge your creativity! Thanks for your support and all the best in 2012:)
Edgeworth Johnstone, thank you very much! I was hoping to paint it too but felt it was just wonderful as a photo :) May still try it with paper and brushes one of these days !
Just a few days ago, I visited the Mysore zoo and witnessed these lovely patterns by the duck family, without being aware of the art that they were creating! I can watch these patterns for hours! Lovely!
This picture makes you think whether beauty simply 'exists' in the nature or is beauty 'perceived', more on the lines of the old adage "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder". For e.g., had it 'existed', would the Tigers who are killed for their skin be aware of their assets?
Wonderful shot though! Dunno whether you were wearing camouflage too, but you did shoot in a non-violent yet effective way!
Just beautiful...lovely patterns & the colours...nice work!
Thank you Padmaja, Thats what is the universal natural beauty, no?
Nikhil, thanks! nope --no camouflage :) I have no doubt other creatures also appreciate beauty --just look the variety of colors and patterns in all animal and plant kingdom --and the lengths to which creatures go to attract opp sex or pollination :)
Thank you Kalyan! I am very grateful for the opportunities I get presented when I am wielding my camera :)
