A Day in the Life - Page 20 Sketchbook Project Color Pencils
"The great question is not whether you have the best nut, but whether you are content with your nut." (Bill Squirrelspeare)
I hoard quotes and am so ecstatic when I can pull out a perfect one from my stash :) I also have over 15,000 photos in my newest laptop, similar amounts an older desk top and too many prints from 'film' years. With a digital camera I take way too many photographs with abandon and am very hesitant to delete the so-so ones. Quite often I know I have a reference photo I have clicked for what I want to paint. But when the best cataloging system I have is 'I know I took a picture....' , I think I am like the squirrel who finds something wherever she looks :) Usually, in my photo-album searches, I stumble across something else I like and the next thing I know I am off with a new idea.
By the way, check here and here if you are curious about squirrels and nuts :)

What an apt quote to go with this lovely sketch page..the secret of our happiness lies in this quote, dont you think?
I love watching the squirrels play around on my coconut tree and sometimes they act very selfish!
very cute sketch and write up!
Thank you, Padmaja. I have couple of bold ones that come up my deck and check things out from kitchen window sill :) I read that some 'fake' bury nuts to confuse others and lead them away from their stashes!!
Anand, thanks! I guess cute rodents do get cute sketches and write ups - he he :)
I take way too many pictures too. Love your squirrel and the quote is awesomely fitting.
Thank you Lisa ! Ahh, its so easy to take too many pictures these days isn't it?
This is a cute post! I know what you mean about the reference photos. I tried to organize mine into folders, but I forget what I have in them. I love the little squirrel scooting down the side of the tree. And the writing on the other side. It's very sweet and so November-ish!
I just love your skeches and watching their development.
I have too many photos and very unorganized. When I started them I kept up with them, now whenever I am looking for something I tell myself that I need to go in and reorganize them so I can find them easier. Somehow I've never found the time!
Katherine, thank you! The only saving grace of having pictures in folders on computer is that they don't occupy realist estate at home :)
Thanks Kathy :) organizing is my downfall --too many hours spent on trying to find that one good system that will reduce clutter!!!!
@Katherine Thomas --I meant real-estate ( oh, the joys of auto correct!!!)
Bill Squirrelspeare is a great philosopher. I like your sketch and also the quote you have put together.
Thank you Mangala :) I found Bill Squirrelspeare online --click on his name and you will see more of his wisdom :)

Crystal, thank you :) we all need that wisdom too !
@Thaikaden, thank you, too :)
thats one realistic looking squirrel. I can feel his fur and his look :)
Thank you, B :) He/she is a curious one who visits our deck all the time!
Love this page.... and your thoughts on your photo stash.... my approach is about the same as yours..... "it's in here somewhere......
Teresa, thank you! Let hope that system has some method to its madness :)
