Sunflower watercolor on Yupo 11x14"
One more Yupo experimentation. I used only watercolors, brush and misting with water (thats the summer special!) this time for this painting. Blotting with balled up paper towel I had on hand to remove excess water or paint also added some interesting textures and lines. The center of the flower was fun to create by dropping a color, misting and dropping another color and watch the textures happen . I was able to lift the color to show the sunlight streaking between the petals and the flower head. Next time I hope to come up with a composition that will lend itself even more to the mingling of colors and challenge myself to find ways to make textures :)

The intricacies of light on a flower is itself quite challenging to arrive at and I can see how you have reached up to it through the petals. It was interesting to read about the technique you followed. I am looking forward to a more complicated and challenging composition on yupo soon from you :-)
I have been using Yupo as well.! Very bright and sunny.
Thank you Padmaja, I have to consciously make attempts to carry over from one painting to the next what I learnt -somehow it is easy for me to fall back into the same tried and true familiar way of doing things and forget to try these other things :)
Sunflowers rule. Unfortunately the squirrels always discover them before I can paint them.
Art, at least the squirrels are happy :) Thanks for stopping by the blog.
Gorgeous work meera. I love, love, love the colors. You've really got this painting on Yupo down. How awesome :)
Yupo and you are getting along very well. It makes me want to try it again.
Thank you, Crystal -- so happy you like the colors :)
