Ignorance mixed media 12x15"
The explosion of violence, hate and extremism around the world is very very scary. This piece in a way painted itself. Its beginnings were innocent enough but before long as I was listening to radio news of bombings, terrorist plots and raging wars, I found myself painting dark figures, smoke and a war zone of a city. Apathy is as dangerous as hate. How do we give non-violence a chance? Will we all ever learn to live and let live?

I'm impressed that you turned all the bad news into such a colorful, aesthetically pleasing composition! I like this painting a lot.
Thanks Thili! I am pleased that you like the painting. As I said the painting just evolved. Feel so helpless with all that is going around though :(
This is a wonderfully visually appealing painting though it has evolved with the feeling of anguish for an unpleasant situation. The path of non violence, love, compassion and forgiveness is such an easy one , the reason for not to follow the path is beyond my comprehension.
Thanks Padmaja! I beleive its easier said than done because when true non-violence, love, compassion, and forgiveness comes into picture we have to let go of the ego and thats not easy.
Amazing! I admire the way you are able to express your feelings through your brush and paper Meera...
Thank you Nirmala for your encouraging comments!. Hope and pray that things will calm down soon.
Powerful Meera!
I love this!!!!!!! More PlEASE! my favorite to date. Was this just watercolor???
@Art Trip --thank you very much!
@Cathy, thank you :) I had most of my initial painting done sometime ago in watercolors. Then I added collage with some torn pieces of rice paper that I had painted with calligraphy and a one very dried leaf with veins only. At this point I completely changed directions and subject and added the figures, defined the new ideas in watercolor. Some of the white smoke and light blue is acrylic - further turning it a mixed media. This is truly a piece where I can say in a way it painted itself.
Thanks Prabha! yes, it is a different painting -- I feel lots of times that for me, the subject dictates how something should be painted
This painting is so powerful. I believe it is a step in a new direction for you. Great use of mixed media. It has great colors and wonderful movement. I love the feeling when a painting paints itself. It is rare but the painting has a power to it separate from your self. And your thoughts went directly into the painting process. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Kathy, you are so kind! Will I be able to take a new direction in my art - only time will tell :)
After your landscapes, I found this very brave and hard hitting - Visually and in abstraction. Very nice indeed.
Thank you very much Rajeev. I really feel sick when I see and hear about all the death and destruction that is going on around the world and in a way surprised and amazed at how it shaped my latest piece.
I love this meera -IGNORANCE-
Very nice and meaningful and most of all it speaks the message you tried to say, beautiful meera:)

Hi,
Just got interested in Ignorance with your choice of colours. I like the texture in your other paintings, keep imagining how you could have got such rich texture.
great work,
anand
Thank you Anand. Getting texture is lot by experimentation :) - few are successful, some I end up with muddy disasters and other times new discoveries! And I am immensely grateful for all the books that have been published on getting textures in paintings. Thanks again for visiting and taking the time to comment.
One of my favorites. You might want to keep an eye on this, lest it go missing the next time Mythili visits.
Thanks Jay! I am tickled that Mythili already put a claim on that painting :) Its my pleasure!
